Storms tend to bring pest problems. From harmful insects to common household bugs to a slew of other pests hoping to
infiltrate your home, most large storms are like a calling card for critters.

However, pest prevention and control doesn’t have to be a daunting task after the rain and wind. Here are some great
tips to help prevent pests after a storm.

Get rid of ant trails

Ants are very intuitive and can sneak in from insulation leaks. Seal small cracks in your home to prevent ants from
entering the house.

Bits of food may attract ants and other critters as well. Cleaning up crumbs and sealing cracks in doors and windows
will cut down on ants entering the space.

Trim plants close to your house

Maintain greenery close to your house, and keep a spray bottle filled with isopropyl alcohol, dish soap and water for
direct pest control. This mixture will eliminate gnats on contact if needed.

Fix torn screens & cracked storm doors

Repair rips and cracks in screens and storm doors, as these openings provide easy access for pests. Sealant works
well to fill small crevices, and screen replacements can be found at your local home improvement store.

Check crawl spaces

Safely check your home’s crawl spaces after a storm. If necessary, hire a professional to inspect the space with
specialized equipment.

Controlling pests can become fairly easy with the right steps. If you’re interested in checking out different types
of pest control, go to your local home improvement store for more information.
